At long last, the highly anticipated line up and ticket prices have been announced for this April’s inaugural Austin Food and Wine Festival. The festival will take place April 27-29 and tickets will be on sale starting January 24 at 12:00 PM sharp. As mentioned here, C3 Presents partnered with Food & Wine and culinary rockstars Tyson Cole, Tim Love, and Jesse Herman last year to launch an annual festival celebrating Austin’s burgeoning culinary scene in the footsteps of its predecessor, the Texas Hill Country Wine and Food Festival. Yesterday’s announcement gives more insight to what foodie fanatics can expect from the new festival. Similar to other Food & Wine events, Austin will play host to a slew of epicurean celebrities such as Gayle Simmons, Andrew Zimmerman, Michelle Bernstein, and Morimoto, who along with national and local chefs, will present demos throughout the weekend.
Much like C3 Presents’ Austin City Limits Festival, the majority of events will take place at Auditorium Shores, save for a VIP launch event on Friday evening at Republic Square Park. Inserting cooking demos for music, the expos will be time slotted in different tents throughout the day with Grand Tasting events on Saturday and Sunday. National talent is heavily featured during the demos but local and Texas favorites will be showcased during the Grand Tasting events. No word if any ACL style ‘aftershows’ at restaurants will be planned, but here to hoping! Full line up and schedule here.
Now you know the details, let’s talk tickets. In a break from the a la carte ticket options of the Texas Hill Country Wine and Food Festival, this event will offer two weekend pass options. The Weekender (GA) pass is priced at $250/pp and grants access to 35+ cooking demos, Grand Tasting events both days, Weekender Lounge Access, and a year subscription to Food & Wine Magazine. VIP tickets are priced at $850 and include preferred seating at cooking demos, early VIP access to the daily Grand Tasting events plus an additional event Saturday evening, an invite to Friday’s VIP Reception, parking, and more.
How crowds will be managed at each demo to make it worthwhile for viewers in the cheap seats is left to be seen, but considering C3 somehow managed to throw the only successful food trailer festival known to mankind this year, odds are it will be organized to a tee.
What do you think? Will you be attending the Austin Food & Wine Festival this year? Eating Ramen ‘till April for a VIP Ticket or Weekender Pass?
