#AustinRW Budget Eats: Austin Restaurant Week 2014

Happening now, Austin Restaurant Week provides the perfect way to test the waters at a new restaurant or visit an old favorite without breaking the bank. Visit one of several participating restaurants during lunch or dinner to enjoy either a two-course prix fixed lunch or three-course prix-fixed dinner. Prices range from $12-17 for lunch and $27-37 for dinner. Austin Restaurant Week takes a timeout for the weekend but returns in time for Sunday brunch on May 18 through May 21. Check out the list of participating restaurants here. The best part about this week? $2 of each meal benefits Meals on Wheels

With so many delicious options and so little time, deciding where to dine is no easy feat. Rest assured, below are a few top picks to help you choose!

Uchi & Uchiko – If there is one thing in the Austin restaurant world that can always be counted on, it’s that dinner at Uchi or sister spot Uchiko is always a good choice. If, unlike yours truly, you can resist ordering copious amounts of nigiri, your wallet may just finally appreciate Uchi as much as your stomach thanks to the discounted ARW menu. Both Uchi & Uchiko are offering dinner at $37. www.uchiaustin.com/

Café Josie – I haven’t visited this old Austin staple in ages, and ARW might just be the perfect time to return to Café Josie. I have also been hearing amazing things about the restaurant’s new chef! Offering both lunch & dinner. www.cafejosie.com

Salty Sow – Specializing in hearty American comfort eats prepared to perfection, Salty Sow is a perfect place to treat that special guy in your life. Offering two menus at both the $27 & $37 price point, Salty Sow won’t break the bank either. Did someone say truffled deviled eggs…? www.saltysow.com

TRIO – With one of the best patios in Austin, one doesn’t need too much arm-twisting to visit TRIO, but in case you need some extra convincing, then do yourself a favor and check out the ARW menu. With entrée options including salmon with Fresno gastrique, ricotta dumplings, and a smoked ribeye, it’s one of the best menus of the bunch. Offering dinner at $37. www.triorestaurantaustin.com

Paggi House – Paggi House is the perfect place to visit with a couple of friends during ARW thanks to a generous menu featuring a plethora of both fish and meat options. With so many amazing dishes from which to choose, Paggi House is a top pick of the week! Offering dinner at $37. www.paggihouse.com
