Cinco de Mayo Happenings

We’re officially flipping the calendar to May this week – meaning Cinco de Mayo is only days away. This weekend there are plenty of fiestas happening around town to celebrate Mexican heritage and culture (as well as everyone’s favorite Mexican/French battle).

Tamale House East is teaming up with San Antonio’s Chef Carino Cortez for a Whole Hog roast on Saturday, May 4th.  Cortez, a member of the famed Mi Terra restaurant family, honed her skills working with the likes of Rick Bayless before returning to her roots. This weekend’s Cinco de Mayo event will kick off at 7pm with a menu of Mexican dishes created from local ingredients. Check out the muy delicioso menu below! La Condesa is hosting its 5th Annual Cinco de Mayo fiesta this Sunday, May 5 from 1-9pm. In addition to serving plenty of that famous La Condesa Mexican street corn, La Condesa has helped bring in a number of local food and drink vendors as well as activities such as live music and plenty of free family fun. The annual block party will once again take over the entire city block of West 2nd Street between Guadalupe and San Antonio. More details available here!

North Loop watering hole Drink. Well. will celebrate by serving $7 margaritas all day long.

Finish the night at Volstead Lounge at Hotel Vegas for their Cinco de Mayo fiesta, kicking off at 9pm on Sunday, May 5th. The free bash will include DJs, a salsa bar and drink specials.
