Memorial Day 2012 Happenings

Take advantage of two summer long dining events kicking off this weekend:

Uncle Billy’s Brew & Cue will kick off a weekly buffet-style Sunday Gospel Brunch this weekend from 11 AM to 2 PM. Enjoy live music from some of the best gospel bands across the South while enjoying the spectacular Lake Travis view from Uncle Billy’s rooftop each Sunday until Labor Day. Sullivan’s will celebrate the summer of ’79 beginning this Memorial Day. Starting Monday until Labor Day, guests can order a special three-course dinner for two priced at $79 per couple. Dinner selections include soup or salad, entrée, and dessert. More info on this steal of a deal here.

LifeWorks is hosting its annual White Party Fundraiser at the Long Center from 8pm to midnight. Join 700 of your closest friends for an evening of food, music, and fun. Tickets start at $175 and are available here. No word if Diddy will be popping in to the always fantastic gala.

Pack the car and head to Elgin to celebrate the time honored classic pairing of Sausage & Opera. Wait…

The 2012 Sausage and Opera Festival will take place Saturday evening beginning at 6:00pm. The event features the musical stylings of the Franco-American Vocal Academy as well as a plethora of famous Elgin sausage. More details about the free festival can be found here.


The newly reopened Belmont is memorializing recently deceased music legend Adam Yauch aka MCA of the Beastie Boys with a Brooklyn Does Austin Block Party. The event kicks off Sunday at 3:00 PM featuring music from DJ Fndomntl and NYC style hotdogs courtesy of FRANK. Admission is free for those 21 & up. Details here.


Never Hungover, the newly released hangover curing beverage, is hosting a special Memorial Day Boat Cruise on Lake Travis this weekend to support the Lupus Foundation of America. Inspired by his sister’s battle with Lupus, Never Hungover CEO Parrish Whittaker will donate all the proceeds from ticket sales of the bash to the Foundation. The $40 ticket includes open bar, light snacks, and of course, an unlimited supply of Never Hungover. The ship sets sail from the Emerald Point Marina at 3:15pm and returns at 7:30pm.
