One of SXSW’s longest running music traditions is the annual South by San Jose day parties held on South Congress. Not only are there always great bands scheduled to play, but the South by San Jose parties are a great way to experience SXSW without having to full emerge oneself in the downtown/eastside madness. These are always laid back affairs; perfect for those visiting get a slice of the South Austin way of life, stroll through the stores of South Congress, and post up by San Jose Hotel and Jo’s Coffee Shop for great music, beer, and fun. Yours truly first became a SXSW fanatic after baby stepping my way in via this shindig many moons ago.
This year’s lineup, hosted by Giant Noise, may just be the best yet, especially since personal favorite Alabama Shakes are a featured act. After getting a glimpse of the Athens, Alabama band during a show early this year in Houston, there is no doubt they will be one of the biggest acts to come out of this year’s fest. Along with the Alabama Shakes, other must-see acts taking the SXSJ stage include Yukon Blonde (featured here), J. Roddy Walston & the Business, Dry the River, and so many more. The event is always free with NO RSVP needed. Official flyer and video from a Friday artist Kids These Days below!
