Where to Watch the Texas Game: Austin Bars w/the Longhorn Network

Who’s ready for some football? Specifically, who’s ready for some University of Texas Football? This Saturday the Texas Longhorns take on the Wyoming Cowboys during our hometown team’s apparently Western-themed opening game. Kickoff is at 7:00 PM CST, and the game will be aired on the Longhorn Network.

Unfortunately, the Longhorn Sports Network and most major cable providers have yet to work out a agreement, meaning unless you have a seat at Darryl K. Royal Memorial Stadium, you may be searching for a place to watch the game. Don’t feel too badly, though; word is even Texas Athletic Director DeLoss Dodds can’t either.

Here is a list I have started to compile of places around town that subscribe to Longhorn Network and will be airing the game. Updates to come as I hear of them, but please comment and let me know if you have word on any additional place. After calling around, I know several places are working on getting it lined up so hopefully this list will grow soon.  Hook ‘Em Horns!

Update 8/31:

U-verse reached an agreement with the LHN to begin carrying the network, effective immediately. This means significantly less stress going into Saturday for many fans. It also means those poooor Aggies have less ammo against Horn fans (we will watch the first two games, thankyouverymuch).

Meanwhile, check out my top picks of game day spots in Austin here.  And, if you are heading to the Red River Shoot Out in October, be sure to grab Early Bird Food & Drink coupons here – today is the last day to get discounted tickets without waiting in line! Mmmm…Fletcher’s corndogs…
